Message higher temperatures before boiling. When it boils, it escapes from your cooling system. It does not keep engine temperatures in check like stated in your origional post. It allows you to run higher temperatures before being warned.

The correct answer to my question is.......it is called an "upgraded" radiator cap. I would have also accepted "people like to spend money".
